Remembering to Give Thanks

Remembering to Give Thanks

Thanksgiving is this week so it only seems fitting to write a post of being thankful and grateful. Let me start by saying I hope everyone has or by the time you may read this, had a wonderful holiday with the people you love. After all, that is what life is about to me at the end of the day, being surrounded by people we love.

That is one of the many things I am thankful for. My life in so many ways has not turned out how I thought it would but I must say I am grateful it hasn't. All of the struggles, mistakes, and distractions have shaped me into being the person I am right now and there is more value in that than all the money in the world. I am blessed with a beautiful and healthy son. Amazing friends who manage to tolerate my craziness and a family that cares about me.

I realize how easy it can be to let life overwhelm us. It's not easy growing up. You live on your own with bills to pay, you have to go out and earn a living, take care of a home and if you have children raise them on top of all the other things. Some people have the misfortune of diseases or other unfortunate circumstances and it can be hard not to succumb to it. I'm here to say, though, that without the darkness we could not see and appreciate the light. Often times it's in the darkness we learn that there is a light shining brightly within us.

I look around me and I have a roof over my head, food in my fridge, clothes on my back, a job, great friends and a healthy son. I know people right now who are watching their child struggle with cancer, people who don't have a home, people who can't be home with their family for the holiday or those who can't afford to eat.

Whatever the case, I am taking the time to truly be grateful and thankful for the beauty in my own life. Hopefully, you are all able to do the same. It is gratitude that gives us a more generous life. The fact that I am able to sit here and write this blog post (writing which is my passion) while my son plays happily in our home, reminds me how abundant my life truly is. I am thankful that I can do these things and write for all of you to read.

Writing is how I know how to express myself and show you all how much I care. You help me bring my passion to life so to all of you who take the time to read our posts, thank you for your support on our amazing journey! Have a safe and wonderful holiday! Happy Thanksgiving from your Writely Me family.
