Why Women Should Motivate Each Other

Why Women Should Motivate Each Other

Have you ever been jealous of another woman? Envious about the job she has or the clothes she wears?

If you say no, I know you're lying.

I've been there, jealous, but I don't mean to convey it as a bad thing. When it comes to other women I turn that jealousy into inspiration and even better motivation, and you can too.

It's inspiring to see women around the same age as you achieve greatness. It gives you the confidence that you can achieve greatness too.

Just recently I went to my club, Her Campus, Women in Business Networking Night and it was amazing. To be able to listen to the accomplishments of my fellow classmates and discuss goals and aspirations was, refreshing, to say the least.

It got me thinking, if women were like this to one another all the time then a lot more would achieve success rather than trying to hinder someone else's.

Here are three main reasons why women should motivate one another.

BY LISTENING TO OTHERS YOU CAN IMPROVE YOURSELF

Instead of feeling like you need to compete with the woman who took the job or internship you wanted so bad, try talking to her instead. Ask her what her tactics were and take a mental note. By listening to what she has to say you can compare what you did and pick out what you need to work on. Plus, by communicating with this woman you just gained a valuable network (she is already in the door.)

BUILDING CONNECTIONS WILL HELP YOU IN THE LONG RUN

Not only does networking with other like-minded women create awesome friendships, it creates connections as well. When it comes to the professional world having connections is a vital key to success. Have you ever heard of the saying "its not what you know it's who you know." This is very much true so quit using jealousy to feel threatened and turn it into a positive experience.

BONDING OVER ASPIRATIONS IS MOTIVATING IN ITSELF

Think about it, here is this person that has the exact same interest and end goal as you. If not similar goals, at least similar passion. I don't know about you, but that is motivating to me. To be able to sit down with someone and just discuss dreams and goals allows you to make it more than just a dream. I don't know what's more motivating than that.

So next time you see that girl who has impressed you in any way go up and say hi. In the end, you could both benefit.
