The main premise of The Alchemist is that we all have our own personal legend. Our own path that we are destined for. Many of us, however, stop listening to our hearts and do what we think we should be doing because often we become too afraid that we will fail at our personal legend of it will be too difficult. Reading this book has literally changed me and I am grateful for it. That right there is what a book is about for someone like me. I write for a few reasons. One being that I enjoy it.
The second is that I enjoy creating something bigger than myself. The third is that I want something I write to help change someone for the better. It is so powerful to inspire others, as well as beautiful. This book literally talks about having the power to achieve the impossible when we believe in ourselves and listen to our hearts. Some people may find this silly but here is how I can personally relate this to be true.
A couple of years ago when my marriage ended, I wasn't being true to myself. Deciding to leave that relationship was the hardest thing I had ever done but it was also the first decision I made for myself. I was lost, broken and very scared.
The world was black and white to me. I thought life should be a certain way. It's two years later, I still struggle with things but I have come so far and I am grateful for the hard times I went through. I am loving the person I am becoming, see through the darkness I was eventually able to find the light. I am stronger, I am more open to the world around me and I am slowly conquering my fears. I have attended writers conferences, continue to work on my book and I started blogging. I am following my dreams and opening new doors for myself. The more I pay attention to the signs or omens as they say in The Alchemist continues to guide me down the path I know is right for me!
Starting over is frightening but sometimes it teaches us something so grand is beyond us.
So part two of my challenge to you is to truly think about what your personal legend is and write your own post to share on our site. We encourage others to follow their dreams and live a life full of passion and what makes you happy. We all get one life, it is not to be wasted or spent regretting what we should have done. We are excited for your responses and participation!
