Why You Should Read Elixir

Why You Should Read Elixir

Hey, Everyone! I am hoping you are all well. It had been awhile since I had picked up a book and I finally forced myself to last week. Boy am I happy I forced myself. I realize that with everyday life sometimes I even forget to do the things that made me want to write in the first place and that's read!

Last week I went to Jenna's and decided to root through her books. I thought it would be more fun than just trying to find something in my own pile. One of the books I borrowed from her is Elixir. It's a little older but definitely worth the read. Elixir is the first book in a trilogy with quite the love story to it. Honestly, we all know I love a good love story, gets me every time.

Elixir

It starts with our main character 17-year-old Clea Raymond. Clea loves her camera and taking pictures. Her mother is a politician and her father a humanitarian. The story starts off with Clea in Paris on one of her paid photography jobs with her best friend Rayna, a year after her father had mysteriously disappeared.

When she returns home with Rayna the first thing she does is flicks through all her photos as always. For some reason, a shadow in one of her pictures catches her eye. When she expands it she sees its a man she had noticed in Paris. As Clea flicks through more fo her photos she expands on all of them to find the same man in the background of all her photos. This strange appearance of this man leads to some strange dreams and suspicions.

Clea's next photography job leads her to Rio where her other best friend and body guard Ben tags along. Rio is where Clea's father disappeared on his last humanitarian trip. Clea hopes to find some answers of her own despite all the dead ends that have turned up on her father's disappearance. Suddenly while walking on the beach with Ben, she notices this man from all her photos and sprints after him. From there she is lead on quite an adventure that reveals many discoveries about who she is.

This love story is both modern and old helping you transcend through time as a reader. If you enjoy a good love story with a spiritual/magical flare to it then this is precisely up your alley. This book offers a nice amount of suspense along with the love story with twists and turns. I look forward to reading the next one and discovering more of the mystery behind Elixir.

Keep reading everyone and rock out!
